Health care volunteer

Health care professional Ken Taylor gives his time to the Special Olympics Special Smiles initiative.

If you are a health care professional who would like to donate some of your time to help our athletes, Special Olympics New Zealand would love to hear from you.

There are a few ways health care professionals volunteer for Special Olympics New Zealand.

The Special Olympics Healthy Athletes initiative offers basic health screenings and services to athletes. These services are delivered by qualified medical staff in a fun and welcoming way. This programme is offered at National Games and some regional events.

When a Special Olympics New Zealand team travels to a World Games, a medical doctor travels with the team. We are always interested in hearing from people who would be interested in having a month-long travel experience with our athletes.
