Chris Linnell
Chris Linnell
Chris Linnell and Prime Minister John Key.
A swimmer and basketball player, Chris Linnell has been involved with Special Olympics for 12 years.
Chris applied for the Global Messenger programme because he wanted to gain the skills that would help him "get the word out” about what Special Olympics can do for athletes and their families. Chris would like to be a mentor for other athletes and, through developing his leadership skills, he would like to become a role model. Chris would also like to use his role as a Global Messenger to share what it means to be a healthy athlete.
Chris has attended three National Summer Games and won gold and silver medals. In 2007, he represented New Zealand at the Special Olympics World Summer Games where he won three bronze medals. Chris also swims with the Wellington Masters Swimming Team.
Chris works at a local supermarket as a cold shelf assistant. In his spare time, he likes to read, watch live sport and go to the movies with friends.
