Graeme Porter

Kathy Gibson, Graeme Porter and Prime Minister, John Key
Special Olympics Chief Executive Officer Kathy Gibson, Graeme Porter and Prime Minister John Key.

When Global Messenger Graeme Porter isn’t participating in Special Olympics activities, you might find him working on or racing his mini-stock car. An active athlete who is involved in athletics, floor hockey, basketball and swimming, Graeme has been in Special Olympics for eight years.

Graeme is an athlete representative on the Special Olympics Nelson Club Committee, has attended numerous Regional Games, two National Games and, in 2007, represented New Zealand in basketball at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai.

Graeme became a Global Messenger so that he could try and help people understand what Special Olympics is about. He would also like to get younger people involved in Special Olympics and show people that athletes with disabilities are just as good as other athletes!

Graeme is married and he and his wife own their home.
