2011 Trans Tasman Tournament

Special Olympics New Zealand and Special Olympics Australia joined forces in November 2011 to hold our inaugural Trans Tasman Tournament in basketball and football.

The Tournament was held from Wednesday 2 November to Sunday 6 November 2011 in Wellington and Lower Hutt and involved more than 200 athletes from around the two countries. Overall, 15 teams competed in basketball and a further 11 teams competed in football.

The Tournament showcased the talents of our athletes, both on the court and field, and offered many their first chance to compete in an international event.

The Tournament was so successful we will be continuing the action next year, across the Tasman in Queensland. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
