Paul

PaulWhen indoor bowler Paul isn’t perfecting his own game, he can be found coaching another local bowling team. In 2009 Paul and three other Thames Valley A-Grade players approached their coach with the idea that they were ready to pass on their knowledge and skill to other athletes.

“I really enjoy being a coach because I like passing on what I know about indoor bowls to other players. It feels great when they improve their game,” he says.

Paul joined Special Olympics in 2001 and has been active in indoor bowls and bocce. He lives with the other coach-athletes at a residential service in a small town. When he’s not bowling or playing bocce, he likes to do artwork and spend time on the computer.
“Special Olympics is important to me because I enjoy being a part of a team and meeting other athletes at events throughout New Zealand.”
